Today, I'm gonna talk about a game known for being hard to beat, even if you use the cheats available ingame. I'm talking about Mega Man X6 (PSX). Even with the Ultimate Armor, this game is a pain.
Trying to ease the pain, a hacker called acediez developed a tool called Tweaks Patcher. This tool is really outstanding, allowing the user to adjust a lot of stuff in the game. This tool only works on Mega Man X6 (USA) version 1.1 for the original Playstation.
So I decided to create my own profile. I modified some stuff in the game that were really annoying, although I also made some changes that could be considered bad things, just to balance the game. I tried not to go too far on these changes when compared to the original game. But feel free to use my settings as the base to create your own.
Some changes envolve the Blade Armor, which, in my opinion, doesn't help much when you get it. But I made it more pleasant to play with and its Mach Dash now deals decent damage. I also improved the Falcon Armor dash attack, but it's still lame...
On the other hand, all Parts carried by the Rescuable Reploids will be shuffled when you apply the patch to the game. If you're lucky, you can get good parts just in the beginning of the game. If not... well, it won't be a big problem since I made other changes to balance the game, as increasing the damage dealt by X/Zero attacks, improving the speed of their moves, Zero and X shares the same life bar and energy upgrades, you can stack lives up to 99 and the exit button works anywhere!
Other things include turning off that annoying alert from Alia, custom mugshots, restoring the voice clips and Japanese title screen. Ensuizan is now an air move and Sentsuizan is activated with Down + Special on air. The glitches with Guard Shell and Ensuizan don't work anymore.
For you to apply it, download the Tweaks Patcher and my settings profiles, unzip all, double click on the 'Mega Man X6 Tweaks Patcher (v2.5).exe' file to open the tool, click 'Profiles' button on the lower left corner and choose 'Load Profile File'. Choose one of my files (TehppydFinal.x6tweaksprofile), click 'Load BIN' and then load your Mega Man X6 (USA) version 1.1 BIN and finally click the 'Patch' button on the lower right corner. The tool will create another .bin and .cue files with the patched game. Run it on an PSX emulator (I recommend DuckStation) and have fun!
